Keep your expectations low, and you'll be fine.
The Sarry Heid is a weird place to describe. It's opening hours are oft discussed but remain a thing that seems to be fluid rather than set in stone. It's a definite "auld man" pub and would probably be described by non regulars as "a bit rough".
If you're heading to the Barrowlands, and it's open, I'd heartily recommend diving in for a quick pint. It's one of THOSE pubs that you'll tell people you visited, and the tones of conversation will drop to a hush as you recant your tale, doubtless embellishing it as you go; it's what people do.
Our friend from London that we took in was scared to even look up from his pint, let alone say a word, because so many people had said "The Sarry Heid? REALLY? ooooft!" when we told them of our plans to visit.
It's nothing bad, honestly. It's nothing good, either. It simply exists in the vacuum of the Barras and does quite well for itself.
Personally, I like it - but I am a bit weird. -

A purportedly haunted pub with a bit of an identity crisis (is it Saracen or Saracen's? Depends on if you go by the current or previous signage for one thing) this is the place to go if you want good pints and a welcoming atmosphere after a Celtic match and aren't squeamish about hearing some questionable songs from the in-house DJ's collection of terracing anthems and rebel songs.

The 'Sarry Heid' as its also known is quite infamous really so I was abit aprehensive about going in for a quick drinks before a gig at the Barras.
But I neednt have worried. Friendly enough, cheap drink and amusing conversation with the locals. Otherhalf said his pint of Guiness wasnt the best though. Would go again to pass some time before a gig. -

Is this stilll the oldest Bar in Glasgow ? Not for the roaming tourist I would suggest but be sure of a warm welcome and a good well priced pint. So there, now you know
